Coaching for Life After Cancer

A Pilot Program for the Providence Queen of the Valley Cancer Wellness Program.

A bit about me

I am Sonja Tarrago MD, a retired pediatrician and a breast cancer survivor, and I know firsthand that treatment ending doesn't mean the journey is over. I am a certified Wayfinder life coach, and I'm honored to offer coaching support to women in the Queen of the Valley Cancer Wellness Program. This work is close to my heart — not something I do at a distance. I understand it from the inside.

What coaching is

Coaching is a partnership. My role is to ask questions, listen closely, and help you get clarity on what you want and what's in the way — not to tell you what to do. Together we look at where you are now, where you'd like to be, and the small, concrete steps that can move you forward.

What coaching is not

  • Not therapy. We won't be diagnosing or treating trauma, anxiety, or depression. If that kind of support would help you, the team can help you find an appropriate referral.

  • Not medical advice. Even though I'm a physician, I'm not acting as your doctor in our sessions — questions about your treatment or health belong with your care team.

  • Not advice-giving. I won't hand you a to-do list. I'll help you find your own answers — that's usually what sticks.

Who this is for

This is a good fit if you're looking for a safe, supportive, and confidential space to explore what's getting in your way — whether it’s uncertainty about what's next, a sense of feeling stuck, changes in your relationships or identity, or simply wanting to reconnect with yourself after everything you've been through. You don't need to have it figured out. You just need to be curious.

What to expect

  • Confidential, one-on-one conversation, in person or virtual, at a pace that feels right for you — typically we meet every other week.

  • No cost to you. This is offered through the Providence Queen of the Valley Cancer Wellness Program.

  • No pressure. We can start with a single conversation and decide together whether continuing feels helpful.

  • Your agenda, not mine. You bring what's on your mind; I bring curiosity and a collection of powerful tools.

  • A 4-session arc, held between October and December 2026. Four 60-minute sessions with topics that could include and can be adjusted as needed:

  1. Where am I now?

  2. What do I want?

  3. Moving from clarity to action.

  4. Moving forward.
