I have a deep understanding of the demands of medicine and technology and how that pulls us away from wellness.
My Story
I’m Sonja Tarrago, MD—a physician, life coach, and healthcare technology leader dedicated to helping physicians and healthcare leaders find greater clarity, purpose, and alignment in their work and lives.
For more than 25 years, I have been helping people navigate change. I began as a pediatrician, caring for children and their families, and later expanded my impact by leading clinical strategy and innovation in healthcare technology. Today, I bring those experiences together through coaching.
“Thirteen years ago, at the height of a fulfilling pediatric career, a breast cancer diagnosis stopped me in my tracks—and changed everything.”
What followed wasn't simply a recovery. It was an invitation to ask deeper questions: Who am I beyond my role? What truly matters? How do I want to spend the years ahead?
As my family relocated across the country, I made a series of decisions that many physicians would consider risky. I stepped away from the exam room to help improve healthcare at scale through technology, leaving behind the familiarity, identity, and security of clinical practice. Years later, I took another leap—walking away from executive leadership to build a coaching practice centered on something I had come to believe deeply: that the wellbeing of physicians and healthcare leaders is foundational to the wellbeing of our patients, our organizations, and ourselves.
Each transition required letting go of certainty before I could see what was next. Each one taught me that growth often begins where our comfort ends.
Along the way, I invested in my own healing and growth through yoga, mindfulness, and coach training with the Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach Program. Those experiences, combined with years of clinical practice and healthcare leadership, have given me a unique perspective on what it means to navigate demanding careers, evolving identities, and lives filled with responsibility.
My coaching isn't about fixing people. You're not broken.
It's about creating the space to think more clearly, reconnect with what matters most, and move forward with courage and intention. Whether you're navigating leadership, career transitions, burnout, relationships, or questions of purpose, I partner with you to discover your own answers and create meaningful, sustainable change.
If you're a physician or healthcare leader with limited time and energy, you deserve to work with someone who understands both the realities of medicine and the complexities of today's healthcare system.
Someone who gets you—and gets it.
I believe that when physicians and healthcare leaders are well, they lead with intention, thrive personally, innovate boldly, and create an impact that extends far beyond themselves.
